Measurement Methodology

Results are measurements made by browsers, not negotiated WiFi link rates or guarantees about an ISP line. Algorithms are versioned so shared results remain interpretable.

Throughput formula

Mbps equals receiver-observed bytes multiplied by eight, divided by elapsed seconds and 1,000,000. performance.now provides monotonic browser timing.

Server-seeded test file

Before timing starts, the initiating browser downloads one authenticated 1 MB binary file. Device A replays those file bytes directly to device B for a sustained phase; device B retains received chunks and replays them directly for the reverse phase. The server download is excluded from LAN throughput.

Latency and jitter

Latency uses repeated application ping/pong round trips. Reports include minimum, median, mean, p95 and maximum. Jitter is the mean absolute difference between consecutive RTT samples.

Stability score

Version 1 weights throughput consistency at 45%, stall-free windows at 25%, latency consistency at 20% and uninterrupted continuity at 10%. Labels are guidance.

Loss estimate

Sequence probes use an unordered WebRTC channel with no retransmissions. Missing probes are an application-level estimate, not raw WiFi radio packet-loss telemetry.
